Editor Guide Step 4: Typesetting

So this is the last step fo the basics...
when you finish this step, you should get accepted
by any group, well not in the real high quality groups...
but i think even them will accept you and teach you
the rest that you need to know...

well most of you guys think typesetting is really easy and so on
but you'll see that it is not like that ^_^

Step 4: Typesetting

First you need to know the fonts you need to know for
the project you are assigned too...
its different from manga to manga...
so i am giving you a little list wich should be used and wich are good...

this ones are common in Scanlation Groups

Normal Bubbles: Wild Words, Blambot Pro
my tip: Manga Temple
Loud Bubbles: Wild Words(bold), Blambot Pro(Bold)
my tip: Yesterdays Meal
Quite Bubbles: Wild Words (smaller font size), Blambot Pro(smaller font size)
my tip: Komika Display Tight
Thoughts (colour #666666 and italics): Wild Words(smaller font size), Blambot Pro(smaller font size)
my tip: Mighty Zeo 2.0
Text outside Bubbles: augie
my tip: any font that suits the original text
Boxes: Mighty Zeo Caps (2.0)
my tip: Komika Display Wide

and chapter names, headlines and sfx's are differently, depends on
how the orginal japanese version looked like...

If you dont have this fonts or you dont have enough, then
just pm me and i am going to give you a good font pack...
or ask the scanlation group you are applying for ...

Well i would say lets get started...

Well i am using raws from School mate... as they have all the stuff
you guys need to learn...





And the cleaned versions...





I didnt bother to redraw anything, as i am very lazy right now...
and i am using cs4 now and the english version...
well maybe i am going to change the stuff i did before to english
maybe not ^_^

You can see that there are thoughts, normal text, loud text, boxes,
text outside of bubbles and sfx's... and i left the hearts...
i think they need to stay ^_^

ok lets start with the first one...
first you are using the typsetting tool, it should be a big T icon...
then you are centralizing the text...
and then we get started...
This are some examples...





So you can see i used different fonts, for you too see there any difference, and just as an example...

So it's important to get the text in the middle of the bubble...
and the text flow should be good too...
well i cant give you good hints on typesetting, because my
typesetting isnt really good,
i am experienced and thats it ^_^

Things you need to know:
if you used one font for something(bubble, loud voices, sfx)
then use that font until the end of the chapter for the same thing...
so for example you got the sfx "stomp" and you used the font "yikes"
and the sfx "stomp" is on page 2,5,14,16...
then use the same font for "stomp" on all the pages...
if you have used font size 12 for the normal text, then go with the font size 12 for normal text through the whole chapter...
text needs to be centered...
if there is text above clothes, people, or any background that isnt white... then use a white stroke for that text...

to make clear how typesetting should look like i made this example for you guys...
i used the same font for all three pics...

this is way too big... font size 15, font blambot pro



this is also too big, but much better.. font size 14, font blambot pro



this looks way better... font size 12, font blambot pro



You need leave enough space in the bubble, so it looks good
and yes i noticed that i fucked up english grammer, but i am way
too lazy, as i would correct it...

there is nothing else i could tell you about it...
